Just downloaded and set it up and everything seems to be working just fine! Looks to me like any bugs and glitches have been worked out. Set it up for two horses and it looks great, plus theres a lot of other things it can do beyond blanket recommendations. Rated it four stars as it is not blanket season in FL yet so it remains to be seen how accurate the recommendations will be.

Thank you Smartpak! Its such an easy concept but so nice to have it in an app. Now, I dont have to second guess myself. Ill be using this app all winter long.

Its working now but it says my horse whos stabled at night will be outside all night when I click the info button. Is the recommendation incorrect?

Love this new app. I am always standing in the barn thinking do they need a blanket or sheet on? How heavy? Will they be warm enough? I love that I can enter each of my horses and can look at the recommendations based on my very different horses!

The average horse would survive if you use these recommendations. However, it doesn’t take into account a horse’s actual unique characteristics. Does the horse sweat easily? Does the horse get chilled easily? My horse SHIVERS at 55*F, and the app tells me to leave him undressed down into the 40s, when he ordinarily needs a midweight blanket to stay comfortable. I’m uninstalling.

Wish this app was a thing when I first got my horse. Would have had fewer sleepless nights. Now I dont have to second guess myself when it comes to deciding what blanket to use. Definitely recommend to all horse owners!!!

The app has great potential but it needs to take into account more things like the the horses coat length(if unclipped), the horses breed, the horses food source(hay or grass 24/7 or just grain x times a day, or x flakes of hay a day),if the horse sweats easily and little things like that.

I manage a whole barn and wish I could pick from a list of names for recommendation or have a main page that shortly says which horses get what. Slowly scrolling though/loading time is a bit long.. takes way too much time and if I back up it returns to the very first horse. Love this but need to be multi-horse friendly. Thanks!

The concept is great and Ive had no issues with it. I do see room for improvement though. I would rather choose the horse then have to scroll through all of them because each one updates and takes awhile. Id also like to enter more stats to get a better result. The info currently entered gives me the same results for my thick coated Appaloosa as my thin coated TB so Im still making the judgement calls. It has been very helpful though with my first winter with a clipped horse :) thanks smartpak!

App is good when it works. It runs on the heavier side, meaning it calls for a heavier blanket/sheet than I would recommend to use for temperature. But app is pretty spot on then you can use your own judgement. For the last several days the app will not open and is crashing. Hope they update soon!?

This app was working perfectly until yesterday! Now it wont show me my recommendations. It just says NA. And the tools are currently nonexistent. What happened?!? Please fix my new favorite app!

This might be a good app for people who are new to blanketing horses. I think it leans way too far to the heavy side for my horse. Hes a fat quarter horse with a thick coat and it recommended a mid weight on a sunny day with a temp of 35. He would roast in a blanket! Thats a naked day for him. The app needs to take more factors into consideration like breed, shelter, feed, and if they tend to be on the cold side or hot side.

I like this a lot. Not that I couldnt figure out blanketing needs with just a weather app, but this is so fun and user friendly. I just have to glance at it and make the call! Took about 30 seconds to set it up. Easy interface. Great job, Smart Pak!

A sheet on a clipped horse at 35 degrees at night? I dont think so. Nice try, but I will keep doing it the old fashioned way. The weather part of it doesnt even seem to work, since the daytime and nighttime each have their own temperature range that dont correspond to each other. I sure hope there arent too many shivering horses out there based on these recommendations!

The only trouble I have had is sometimes the app is unable to connect to the internet, even when my phone clearly has no connection problems. I do agree that sometimes the suggestions are not correct, (different blankets for the same temp, blanket for warmer temp and a sheet for a colder temp, etc) and that the app would be better if you could customize more of the horse info. There are days when I have to use my judgement. Most days it offers good suggestions and takes away that "blanket or sheet" doubt. But if the app is anything like SmartPaks customer service, I have no doubt they will make the app better for us and incorporate a lot of the suggestions given here.

Its great! I think they should have more precise things though. Like should we lock out horses in or let them out?! Double blanketing?! More precise weight and coat. and the blankets you have you should be able to put them in and pictures and it will tell you(with the blankets you already own) rich to put on.! Its great otherwise use it every just an average joe with 5horses ☺️

It works as in it doesnt crash when i open it, but it is not consistent with recommendations. If its 25 degrees during the day it will say to put a heavy weight turnout on a partially clipped horse and then at night when the temp drops to 18 degrees, it says to put a sheet on. My horse is not one to easily get cold, but a sheet seems ridiculous even for her.
